Plenty of point-to-point winners in this maiden hunter chase, but most were fairly exposed and the overall form is probably no more than ordinary.

NATIAIN, fifth in this race last year and second after a couple of bad blunders in a hunter chase at Kelso on his previous start, jumped better this time. After racing up with the pace, he looked held at the last, but ran on to lead close home. He's improved in points this time, and may continue on the upgrade.

Scenic Storm, third in last year's renewal, lost ground with a mistake at the 14th, but recovered and looked to have it won at the last but was collared. He ran another good race but is pretty exposed.

Alfie Twofourtwo ran better than on his last couple of runs in points, but will need to improve again to win a hunter chase.

Noggler wasn't disgraced considering he made a bad mistake at the seventh, and Polar Gale, who has shown progressive form in points, lost his chance with a very slow start.
