Bold Trump was pulled up on his two previous ventures over hurdles and has been beaten in banded races on the sand this winter. Given an enterprising ride, he was clear at the flight in the back straight, three from the finish, but was worn down on the home turn. He has a sprinting pedigree and his stamina is limited.
Native Commander was still travelling well approaching the second last but, not for the first time, he failed to find much when let down.
The Wife's Sister, who accounted for Native Commander when scoring at Uttoxeter, was below that form on her first run for new connections. The faster ground appeared against her and she could never reach a challenging position.
Hurdles debutant Pearl Island, a mile winner on Fibresand, was in with a chance when blundering away his rider at the third last.
