A reasonable beginners' chase which afforded AMICELLI, fourth in a warm little race at Exeter in January, a good opportunity to get off the mark over fences. Surviving a couple of early scares, he showed ahead three from home before scoring in workmanlike fashion. He likes this ground and will be kept on the go through the summer.

Monteforte, sent off favourite on his last two starts in handicap hurdles but pulled up with breathing problems both times, made a satisfactory chasing debut, but was inclined to jump to his left at times and was unable to counter when collared by the favourite. He collapsed in the unsaddling enclosure after the race but recovered and was able to walk away.

Mobasher was again not exactly fluent and did not achieve a great deal in finishing fourth.

Kitski had made a reasonable start to his chasing career but he did not jump well and was in trouble with a circuit to run here.
