An ordinary hunter chase. The one going into it in the best form was BILL HAZE, who completed the hat-trick after a brace of victories at Leicester. Back in front at the ninth, he gave a trademark flash of the tail before the final fence before hanging right the way over to the stands' fence on the run-in, but was always going to hold on. Despite the idiosyncrasies, he does look something of a reformed character and he is a versatile sort with regards to the trip.

Dun An Doras, sharpened up bya recent spin in a point, appreciated the drop to this more suitable trip but, despite keeping on, could not trouble the winner.

Viscount Bankes is less than consistent and this was one of his better efforts.

Chef Tartare survived some notable errors which left him with plenty to do. He made ground travelling quite well, but found little when let down from the second last.
