The veteran BARTON NIC was successful off his highest-ever mark over fences. He came into the race in good form, having won at Plumpton and finished second here. Although he faced a stiffer task at the weights, and was dropping back in trip, he proved up to the task. Given a patient ride, he was driven out after the last and was good value for his win. Up 13lb for his Plumpton win two runs ago, he'll face another stiff rise, but is in great form.
Nowator, back over 2m, ran a fine race as well and seems to be thriving. He was pulled up over further here last time, but was right back on song back over 2m here.
Sir Storm is another paying for his success and Oso Magic was rather disappointing, for though he took up the running down the far side, he faded quite badly in the straight. [CR]
