Analyis of the race

Having run his best race of three this season last time out and with the ground in his favour, GO SOLO made it fourth time lucky, though needing every yard of the trip. He is now likely to be stepped up in distance.

Toshi, making his seasonal bow and giving weight all round ran a cracker and was only just run out of it.

A stronger pace may have suited Regent’s Secret who kept on really well in the closing stages without looking quite able to get there. He likes it round here, though perhaps with another furlong suiting him best, and it would be no surprise if he returns soon and gets his head in front again.

Jordans Elect was one-pacedwhen it mattered, but he has put up better performances and left the impression that he ought to be able to pinch a race of this quality. However, he may need a bit more respite in the ratings as he was running from 69, the same mark as when he last won here two years ago.

Dark Charm wasn’t suited by the way the race was run and he tended to hang in to the rails. He has won on good to firm, but maybe he does prefer an easier surface now. It was heavy when he won at Haydock.
