A very ordinary claimer run at only a modest gallop went to DOUBLE RANSOM, who had been mainly out of form. He came late to get in front inside the final furlong. This was his fourth success on the track, but the form amounts to little.

FiddlersCreek hadn't won on turf since 2004, and had run poorly on his previous start, but ran a little better here, only to go down in a driving finish.

These three were clear of Templet, who is another with a poor win record.
