LAYAZAAL's running on Newmarket second to Levera represented strong handicap form, but he had an extra 2f to cover here and he is hardly bred for it. Held up to get the trip, he was clearly going well 2f out but his rider had to wait patiently for an opening. When the opportunity came Layazaal took it, and he ran on well to lead close home. Now he hasshown he stays he should have no shortage of opportunities.
Multakka, carrying the same owner's second colours, is still a maiden, but he is reportedly getting stronger and ran a blinder, doing nothing wrong, except for running a bit keen early on, and putting up his best effort yet.
Night Crescendo was 6lb higher than when winning at Newbury and racing on much softer ground. He had to squeeze through a narrow gap on the rail but ran on really well. He got the trip well and will probably get further.
Champions Gallery looked particularly well and weakened only in the final furlong after looking a possible winner. He had perhaps been a bit keen early on and he didn't get home in this ground, but he is worth another chance at a similar trip.Punta Galera made a perfectly satisfactory reappearance, but last Saturday's good Newbury third High Command disappointed in seventh, weakening in the final furlong after racing prominently; it's hard to say if it was the trip, or if the race came too quick. There were long gaps back to the other two, and Tumbleweed Glory was dismounted after passing the post, having been very free on the outside.
*Ed Dunlop reported High Command was was unsuited by the ground.
*Alan Munro reported that Tumbleweed Glory was unsuited by the ground.
