THE LORD loves this ground and had been a good winner from a mark of 92 in a handicap over the same course and distance the previous afternoon. He had clearly come out of the race in very good form, and having taken it up well over a furlong out, he simply would not let Green Manalishi go past him. This was a splendid effort, but connections must hope the Handicapper doesn't take this form too literally or he will be up against it for some time to come.
Corridor Creeper probably paid the price for going too quick and getting into a sustained duel with Fire Up The Band.
Fire Up The Band had a stiff penalty but still had a major chance on last year's King George win and Prix de l'Abbaye third, both of which were on soft ground. Although he didn't run badly on the AW on his reappearance, he has lost his form since and he is one to treat with caution until showing signs of recovering it.
*The vet reported that Fire Up The Band was sore.
