Always travelling smoothly, he won this with something in hand, producing what cannot have been far off a career best performance and erasing the memory of a luckless run at Chester. Given the lack of strength among black-type sprinters, he more than deserves a crack at a Listed race, and he gets that chance this afternoon.
Night Prospector is now rated just 84, but he's also with a new trainer in Gary Moore, who is very likely to get the horse back to something like his best. This run certainly bodes well for the future, because the six-year-old had to be switched right around the field to make his challenge but still beat all but the winner. He is on the way back.
Angel Sprints was progressive in the second halfof 2005, and she could improve further judged on this promising return. Smokin Beau isn't as young as he used to be but he ran respectably at Ripon earlier in the month and he ran pleasingly again here.
Enchantment and Peopleton Brook werenot at their best, but last week's York winner Trinculo was heavily eased close home, suggesting that something may have been amiss.
