They crawled early, resulting in quite a few pulling for their heads, but the race ultimately revolved around whether NANTYGLO could reproduce her Mill Reef Stakes third, form which stood head and shoulders above anything her rivals had achieved. It transpired that she was able to produce a performance suitable to winning a race of this standard, and having travelled kindly, if a little keen early, she tracked the leaders before going for home past the two pole. She was quickly joined by Sweet Treat but kept pulling out more and asserted nicely inside the final half-furlong. She proved this trip holds no terrors, shaping as though she would get a little further if anything, and she will also be seen to better effect when returned to her favoured sound surface.

Salamanca, a Listed winner last term, had theadvantage of a recent run, but she was never able to land a blow on the front two. Little Miss Gracie led early but had no answers when the pace quickened, while Favourita was far too keen early and had little left to offer when push came to shove. Heat Of The Night and Love Thirty raced freely early and are capable of better.
