DAYS OF MY LIFE's Folkestone win had not been working out and the Handicapper had reassessed the form downwards, but a mark of 74 still looked on the low side and he duly confirmed it with a good effort which saw him handy throughout, in front with 2f to go, and game underpressure. He handled the ground, but there is a suggestion he will be better back on a sounder surface and he is a type Roger Charlton does especially well with. While he will need to improve another stone or more as he steps up to a mile and more, it would be no surprise to see him ending up in the Cambridgeshire, which Charlton won with the same owner's Cap Juluca and Blue Monday.
Scarlet Knight, who came wide up the straight to begin with, should have appreciated this ground but didn't run well again.
Sigismundus weakened after making the running, and Reviving pulled too hard.
