A decent novice chase with Cheltenham-bound STAR DE MOHAISON maintaining his progressive profile with a confidence-booster against solid performers Steppes Of Gold and One Cornetto.The plan had been to settle him in behind, but he was just too good for his rivals in all departments and jumped ahead earlier than expected before bossing the race with ease. His jumping was generally measured and professional although his impetuousity downhill on the last circuit nearly proved costly, as he was unbalanced into the first fence on that downhill run, landing awkwardly. He was clear at the last and eased in the last strides, so is value for more than the bare margin as he was entitled to be at the weights on official handicap marks. Connections pointed out he has been getting closer to The Listener through the season and a rematch back in Graded company could be on the cards at the Festival.

One Cornetto ran a solid enough race on this step up in trip. He has to prove he really gets this trip as he looked tired by the last, having looked a big danger jumping four out.
