TARLAC, an expensive failure behind Triumph hopeful Kalmini here earlier in the month, made amends in good style despite copying the first winner in being keen to get on with it. As they went slower here, Tarlac had soon pulled himself ahead and he made light of walking through the last two flights to stay on strongly to beat newcomer Toparudi.VCbet went 33-1 for the Supreme and while this taking gelding will be suited to a more galloping track and a strongly run race, again the price does not fit in with the first-division pairing.
Toparudi made a promising start after his Flat career in which his onlywin came under a hands and heels ride from his apprentice by a short head. He was again noticeably given the kid gloves' treatment and responded in running strongly in pursuit of the winner into the last but he was safely held from there. He finished well clear of the rest to suggest impending success and he certainly has the physique to do well over hurdles.
Mith Hill shaped with some promise on this hurdling debut and along with Noble Bily can improve for a longer trip on this evidence.
