He guessed at a few early, but cruising round the outside to get a good look at his fences, he looked set to go clear after jumping the third last, still in the back straight, but was reined in, letting the pack close down until he was asked again jumping two out to finally clear away. As such, he is value for more than the bare margin and, already 19lb higher for his two wins, it is any guess where the handicapper will go now to dictate his future.
Stormy Skye made use of grabbing the inside rail in the chasing pack and kept on dourly for a good second without sniffing the winner. He has gone well at the track and looks to remain reasonably weighted for a similar staying contest.
Tommy Carson ground out his usual game effort but is better on better ground and around his favoured Plumpton.
Levallois ran a shade better than the bare form, travelling up strongly going wide around the long sweep home from out of the back straight. A place looked certain going to two out and he looks to need a further drop back in trip on this showing.
