Analyis of the race
The official going description was changed to soft, good to soft in places, ahead of this warm novice hurdle. MR POINTMENT has been campaigned like a good horse and he again showed himself to be worthy of the regard in which he is held at home by taking over at the fifth and then never being headed. The EBF Final and the Cheltenham Festival's three-mile novice hurdle are both under consideration for him, and although it would be a surprise if he was good enough to land a blow in the latter, he could well go close in a muddy renewal of the Sandown handicap. Dearson was disappointing, as he was beating a rapid retreat when falling three out. Stroom Bank and The Langer were hopelessly outclassed.
