A typical bumper, in that they went no pace early on the horrible ground, and that very much counted against WYLDELLO, who nevertheless overcame the stumbling block to win on her second start. A sister to the high-class mare Marello, she had run a distant second to the potentially top-class Kicks For Free at Wincanton on her debut, but she met nothing of that calibre here. Having been a little outpaced when the tempo quickened heading down the back for the final time, she gradually found her stride and won with more in hand than the bare margin suggests. She has a future, and the final of the mares' series at Sandown next month would seem an obvious target.

Rosita Bay was left behind once the pace increased, which was disappointing, but she was trying to give away her 10lb penalty, and so was always going to struggle. She should start winning again in novice hurdles next season.

Nannys Gift was a distant fourth but finished ahead of Karrie and Follow My Leader, who between them set theslow gallop.
