The Castilian was given a fine ride and wasn't asked for his effort until coming to the last, but he then proved an unwilling partner. No matter how much his rider tried to cajole him, the four-year-old refused to go past the leader and, although clearly blessed with ability, doesn't look one to trust.
The hat trick-seeking Gustavo was never travelling and was well behind when pulled up three out. He has been raised 9lb since his latest success but should have done better than this.
