This was a fair novices' hurdle to kick off with a number of previous winners in the line up. MISTER QUASIMODO was suited by the testing conditions and the step back in trip helped as he had failed to see out three miles last time. Rather than expect him to shoulder two penalties in future, connections favour going down the handicap route, but he must have give in the ground.
The Luder may well have finished closer but for nodding on landing at the last and then hanging on the run-in. He may need a pair of blinkers and a longer trip is likely to suit.
Duncliffe, a faller over fences last time, reverted to hurdles here for a confidence booster and will be better suited when back chasing.
Sabreur did not get home on this ground at this trip.
Aztec Warrior seems to want better ground.
