Not much of a race for such a decent prize, and very few figured with a chance. ITSONLYME, who had failed to complete the course on his last four starts and who was beginning to give his connections doubts whether he'd ever recover his form, looked to thoroughly enjoy himself on this occasion and saw his race out in gutsy fashion. Whether he will build on this or return to type remains to be seen.

The Manse Brae stayed on to be second, but was never going well at any stage and it was more his rider's perseverance than anything else that enabled him to pick-up the runner-up prize.

Of the others, Victor Argosy, who took a fierce hold early on, was pulled-up after going lame when making a bad mistake at the ninth.

Long Walk was also reported to be lame.
