Analyis of the race

This was quite a decent race for a �national hunt' novices' hurdle, though the early pace wasn't strong and the first three were in the those positions throughout. BILLYVODDAN gained a well-deserved success after several decent efforts since winning at Uttoxeter in May. Given a positive ride, he ran on well for pressure to get home all-out but left the impression he will stay further. Though he can win more races over hurdles, he is likely to prove even better when he goes over fences.

Winning point to-pointer King Killone, another chasing sort, ran right up to his best despite hanging left. Like the winner, he will stay further and will be seen to advantage when he goes over fences.

General Grey also showed improved form, though he tended to hang left and was running onthrough tiring rivals. Reseda, up in grade, travelled well to the straight but didn't really stay on. Keltic Rock didn't run up to his best and faded in the straight, but this was a more encouraging run by Flowing River, who looks one to notein small handicaps after another run.
