Orpsie Boy ran a cracker on his first outing of the season, keeping on well. He wore a tongue-tie in his latter races last season, but did not wear it here.
Figaro Flyer appreciated a return to this trip and finished with a flourish after coming from off the pace. Peter Island, who showed bags of speed, made a bold bid to hang on to his lead inside the last, but was worried out of it near the line. This was a solid effort from 2lb out of the handicap. Waterline Twenty ran a sound race, as did Zennerman, who finished well down the outside. Calypso King, drawn widest of all, was unpromisingly positioned at the rear entering the home straight, but did some sterling work inside the last to run better than his finishing position might suggest. Night In was comfortably held, while Makfly, under pressure more than two furlongs out, soon faded. Colorus, poorly drawn, made a tardy start and also met trouble in running, and could never get into it.
