MARAAHEL, winner of this race 12 months ago, completed back-to-back victories in workmanlike style in a very ordinary renewal of this Group 3 contest. It promised to be something of a tactical affair with only four runners, but the winner, having led early after a slightly tardy start, was then given the luxury of a lead before going on again as the race developed in earnest. Ridden out in the straight to make sure of victory, he never looked in any danger of defeat in a race he was entitled to win. It will have done his confidence no harm at all to get his head in front for the first time since his win here last year.
