A heavy shower eased slightly before the first race but the time of some five seconds above standard showed the rain had got into the ground, with the going changed to good to soft. As on the previous two days, it paid to be up front and SONG OF PASSION broke smartly to get across from her outside draw and make all. She was appearing for the first time since landing an all-weather maiden at Lingfield last September and easily handled the course, speeding around the turns tight to the inside rail. Shejust edged right in the closing stages as she began to tire but that was to be expected in the circumstances and she looks the sort to progress further.

Collateral Damage stepped up on his reappearance effort at Newmarket last month as he kept on well in the closing stages. He stayed the trip well and may find the step up to a mile in his favour.

Easy Air, held up as usual, looked to be getting into contention before the straight. However, he flattened out in the final furlong and was ill at ease in conditions. His two wins were on the all-weather at Lingfield and, being by Zafonic, will prefer fast ground. He is better than he showed on this occasion and deserves another chance when conditions are more suitable for him.

Champions Gallery ran as if the outing was needed and can improve, while Silidan weakened after chasing the winner until inside the final two furlongs. [TE]
