Ivy Creek was the one to take out of the race, as he was trapped on the inside rail when the winner went for home and, although a gap came shortly afterwards, the damage had been done. He ran on strongly in the final furlong and gave the impression that a mile and a half will pose no problems. He is a beautiful specimen who was still a little babyish and looks sure to thrive - his trainer indicated that the colt would not be supplemented for the Derby. That could prove a rewarding move, as he looks the sort who will figure strongly in a race like the King Edward VII Stakes.
City of Troy was disappointing again and didn't look entirely happy on the course. He made progress over two furlongs out and kept on well enough to suggest he got the trip, but he clearly isn't showing on the racecourse what he shows at home.
Cousteau was a little keen but ran respectably enough and should soon win his maiden, while Gandor was close up for a long way but found the company too tough. [TE]
