Nice Tune showed the benefit of stepping back up in distance from 1m and remains in good form after a busyish spell but Focus Group's effort was the most eye-catching as he did best of those coming from off the pace and kept on well having been outpaced on the home turn. This was only the fourth run of his life - the very soft ground clearly did not suit him first time out this term - and he looks up to winning a handicap for his new connections. Neither track nor ground were probably ideal for Ofaraby who did respectably in the circumstances, as did Alfie Noakes who certainly looked as though he would be more at home on a more galloping course. Sew'n'so Character kept on without reaching the principals, while Yakimov and Temple Place were never dangerous and the race was not run to suit either of them. Kames Park looks far from straightforward. Last year's winner Tiger Tiger was always in rear.
