The draw again proved crucial in this five-furlong dash, with MERLIN'S DANCER making the most of his favoured number two stall to make every yard of the running and keep on well to the end. He had previously done all his winning at six furlongs, but he confirmed here that he has the pace to win over the minimum trip at a sharp track; the Vodafone Dash at Epsom will be among his future targets. He also confirmed that he is in excellent heart.

Judd Street, who was also well drawn, chased the winner throughout and saw his race out in willing style. The 6lb penalty he picked up for winning at Windsor last week, counted against him here, but this was a cracking effort from a horse who, like the winner, has plenty of pace.
