Analyis of the race

A few unexposed types lurking amongst the field for this novices handicap hurdle and it was DORNEYS WELL, having only his second outing in this country and wearing a tongue-tie for the first time, who came from off the pace to score his first win over hurdles. He had bits and pieces of form in Ireland on softish ground and the conditions helped as his two previous efforts here were on much faster going. The chances are he can go on from this as his trainer has shown in the past all he does is improvehorses like this one.

Northaw Lad, having his first run for over a year, ran well considering and he can be placed to score again at some stage. However, he had a hardish race here and will need time to recover.

Original Fly stayed on again after seemingly dropping away in the straight on his handicap debut. If he had not been hampered at the last he may have been a shade closer – he needs more of a test of stamina.

Corals Laurel seemed held when coming down at the last on his first try in handicap company.

The disappointment of the race was Trompette as she got in off what appeared a decent mark after her Plumpton win. She had every chance and this may have come a bit quick.
