A long-distance handicap chase which would have taken some getting in the conditions and only half of them completed. FOX IN THE BOX had given notice on his last two starts that he could be on the way back following some poor efforts and he duly obliged. He had won here as a novice and once again he jumped adequately enough and simply got home better than the rest. Quite how this form measures up for the future is questionable, even though he managed to reverse form with a couple of rivals here.

Kausse de Thaix is another in the grip of the handicapper at present as he had nothing left to offer turning for home.
