A run-of-the-mill three-mile handicap hurdle featuring Grand National hope Silver Birch, who was bidding to atone for a desperately disappointing show a week ago at Wincanton. Connections opted for fitting blinkers this time but it made no difference as he stopped pretty quickly halfway down the far side and was eventually pulled up. He now has a big question mark hanging over him and any Aintree aspirations appear a long way off after this.

The race went in unchallenged style to KILTY STORM, who was always travelling well before asserting in the home straight. He had put in a below-par effort when brought out quickly after his last win, so that could rule out another swift return to try and take advantage of his current mark as the handicapper is bound to react accordingly to this facile victory.

Miss Fahrenheit has won here twice before over shorter and did not appear to get home at this trip.

Passenger Omar came here on the back of consecutive wins over this trip but he has gone up accordingly and that seemed to prove too much for him.
