This rescheduled Grade 1 looked competitive on paper but it became something of a one-horse show as DENMAN stretched his unbeaten record over hurdles to three with another authoritive victory. Although this represented a step up in class compared to his previous two wins in ordinary affairs around Wincanton, he took it in his stride. His style of running suggests he will have no problems with 3m. He put a host of previous winners in their place and he could now wait for the Royal & SunAlliance Hurdle.
The Cool Guy came into the race boasting two easy successes but could not live with the winner when the question was popped. He was up there all the way so the form appears really solid.
Ungaro was another who never really got competitive despite coming into the race in decent form.
Its A Dream chased the leaders but was effectively left behind while Ask The Gatherer never got there. (AK)
