| A fairly open novices handicap hurdle and a slightly controversial outcome with as PIRATE FLAGSHIP was awarded the spoils in the stewards room after he and stablemate Armariver had battled it out up the hill. The latter originally prevailed in a photo but the pair had come close together in the closing stages with the eventual winner being stopped in his run at what was considered a critical stage as he rallied strongly. The winner was trying handicap company for the first time and looks the typewho can be placed to score again as long as ground conditions are in his favour as he must have relatively decent conditions. Green Iceni may have found the ground a little too lively considering his previous win came on heavy. Good Citizen seemed to run his race but could do with a slight step up in trip. The Mick Weston ran here in preference to the mud at Uttoxeter 24 hours earlier. He was set a fair bit to do and never threatened to get there. Dearson wants further. (AK)
