Very much one of the week's lesser races, and one that seldom has much bearing on the big handicaps chases that have still to be run. It attracted the usual huge field and was run at a typically fierce gallop, yet few got into it from off the pace. Indeed the first two were bang there throughout, and the third was never far away.

YOU'RE SPECIAL had been pulled up at Fakenham on his latest start, but since then he has had his wind tinkered with, and the drying ground will have helped too. In frontfrom the fourth last, he had the race in the bag before the last and galloped on strongly up the hill. Ferdy Murphy will consider him now for the Irish National and the Betfred.

Mon Mome, still technically a novice, has been in great form all season and has been in the first two now on his last six starts. His earlier wins had all been on very different ground, but the drying conditions didn't bother him at all and he showed improved form yet again. There may still be more to come.

Undeniable ran the anticipated solid race without having sufficient pace over the last few fences. He just got the best of a battle for third with two horses who had come from off the pace, Bee An Bee and Risk Accessor, both of whom have the overall profile these days of under-achievers.

Florida Dream forced the pace and was still there three out. He ran a lot better than his finishing position suggests.

The winner's stable-mate, Underwriter jumped poorly at the back of the field in the early stages and was last for most of the first circuit. He made some headway second time around and was about eighth at the top of the hill, but the effort took it's toll and he back-pedalled again from that point. A novice, and still inexperienced, he is a lot better than this.
