Not a lot of strength in depth in this bumper, which fell to ASTARADOR, who fulfilled the promise he showed at Wetherby on his debut, by posting a wide-margin win. Driven clear in the straight, he was never going to be beaten. He will not be over-raced this season, but he has already been schooled over hurdles and he looks the type to come into his own when faced with some obstacles.

Medic shaped nicely on his debut and, although no match for the winner when the chips were down, he is entitledto improve and looks a promising sort.

Star Shot, the only previous winner in the field, was well held.

Georgedoubleyou, a springer in the market, showed up well for a long way, racing keenly, but dropped out tamely.
