Balyan, a 90-rated Flat horse with John Oxx, tanked along well through the race and came to win, only to find the winner just too strong. He was done no favours by Industrial Star's tendency to hang into him and carry him to the left, but it hardly looked enough to consider Balyan an unlucky loser. That said, he should not be long in winning.
Dubonai was far from disgraced, while Third Empire looks the type to find his niche in handicaps.
