A weak maiden, with very few of those with hurdling experience having shown much better than poor form, and there was some moderate jumping among the field.

DALKEYS LAD took advantage of what is likely to prove his best opportunity outside sellingcompany, left in the lead at the last flight, hampered by the loose horse but rallying to get back up on the long run-in. He had shown on his reappearance a fortnight earlier that he retains ability after a year off with leg trouble but this is definitely not form to get carried away with.

And he would have been only second had Hugs Destiny was around five lengths up when he made a mistake, stumbled and unseated his rider after the final flight. He is exposed as modest and this would almost certainly not have been much of an improvement and he had jumped less than fluently beforehand but he is clearly in the form to score in poor company.

Nigwell Forbees looks less than straightforward and was ridden from a long way out - he may be better over further.

Trew Flight had little worthwhile form on the Flat but showed a modicum of ability on this hurdling debut.

My Best Secret and Spirit Guide both raced too freely, while Gardor did not jump well.
