This beginners' chase featured two debutants over fences who were both fair hurdlers but one failed by a long way to give his running and the other was an uncertain stayer so DALRIATH may not have had to improve as much as it appeared to better her close second off a BHB rating of 85 in a novices' handicap chase here two days earlier to land a first win over fences, racing keenly in rear early on, leading 2 out and just holding on. She has at least proven herself as good over fences as she was over hurdles, and she will reportedly now head to Southwell on Sunday where she is engaged in a 2m1f handicap chase.

Prolific winning hurdler Marrel made a fairly encouraging chasing debut, leading from before the 10th until 2 out, and keeping on again on the run-in, shaping as though he probably stays 2m5f. He came a distance clear of the rest and should improve over fences.
