A weak race, even by the standards of mares' events, with very few having shown much solid form over hurdles, and the ideal opportunity for modest long-distance Flat performer TEUTONIC, who benefited from stepping up in trip for the first time over jumps. Always travelling nicely under a well-judged ride, she made ground through the field gradually to challenge at the final flight though it was only close home that she got the upper hand - she has shown temperament on the Flat and is clearly less than entirely straightforward. The previous efforts of the placed horses underline the impression that this was not a strong race but she is unexposed as a stayer over hurdles and would be of interest in modest long-distance handicap company provided her current BHB mark 80 does not go through the roof.

Mary Casey had been well beaten in two bumpers but did better on this hurdling debut, pecking on landing at the last flight but rallying and staying on for third - she should improve on this first effort.

The softish ground may not have ideal for the four-time runner-up Bella Liana but she stayedon best of all and seems better suited by this trip than shorter. Fellow Irish raider Canadian Sunset led going to four-out and was a couple of lengths up when she unseated her rider at the next - she had shaped encouragingly on her hurdling debut 12days earlier and looks up to landing a modest event.
