Again just a handful with the recent form to give them a serious chance at the weights and only a couple ended up giving their running in the conditions. Irish point-to-point winner TROVAIO has reportedly had a few problems since joining Lucinda Russell but he looked to be turning over a new leaf on his previous start and confirmed that promise in style here, leading three out, soon in command and coming home a comfortable winner. He may have been flattered with so many of these rivals disappointing but there are plenty of uncompetitive chases at this time of year, he jumped well and he handles firmer ground, so he could well follow up.

Lambrini Bianco confirmed his recent good level of form on this much softer ground but again left the impression he is plenty high enough in the handicap.

Three Mill looked no great shakes judged on his Irish chasing form and never really threatened, while Farington Lodge did not jump well enough. The ground was probably too soft for Chancers Dante, while winning hurdler Brackney Boy has still to convince over fences.
