A fair gallop to this handicap chase which was won in good style by NIFTY ROY, who came from off the pace to score decisively. He seems to go well on soft ground.

Master Papa has never won over fences, and hadn't shown much in hunter chases recently, but shaped much better here, staying on though proving no match for the winner. He may improve again and find a small race.

The runner-up was clear of Little Flora, who never really got into it. The ex-Irish Il Penseroso set a fair pace but his jumping deteriorated as he tired in the straight and he finished well beaten. His only win came on decent ground in a 2m4f hunter chase, but he is clearly effective at this sort of trip, and having run better here than his finishing position suggests, he could well be interesting in a small handicap in the next week or two.
