Quite an interesting novice hurdle won well from the front by SOME TOUCH, who was a useful bumper horse last season, and had won over hurdles on fast ground at Musselburgh in December. Settling better than last time when his saddle slipped, he dictated the gallop and ran on in good style in the straight to score decisively. Although he handled the conditions he is considered to be better on decent ground and is the sort who should progress.

Flat winner Secret Pact had shaped well on his hurdling debut, and he confirmed that promise with a solid run in second despite taking a good hold. He'll have no difficulty in going one better, particularly on better ground.

Windy Hills was a bit too keen early, and these four were well clear of the rest.
