LORD CHAMBERLAIN, who won a seller here last summer, made the most of his rail-side draw, tracking the pace and staying on too well for three other veterans who put their younger rivals here completely in the shade.
Border Artist, tucked in at the back to counter his hopelessly high draw, did well to rattle home for second, although he enjoyed a miraculously clear run through the packin the process. He has not won in two years but looked to enjoy this sounder surface.
Oh Boy set the tempo and while he has won over a mile here, he was on the ropes in the final 100 yards. This was still an improved effort with the better groundprobably accounting for much of that so he remains interesting through the summer.
Trevian showed improved form to finish well down the midtrack without threatening to land a telling blow. Stamford Blue, a winner 24 hours earlier, looked unlucky not to follow up on considerably different ground and track. He lost allchance with a very slow start yet still stayed on, aided by getting a clear run tight against the inside rail. Hadath did not have the ragged pace that suits his style but he edged closer as usual when it was all over albeit under strong pressure.
