MIND THE STYLE had made a promising debut at Beverley, finishing strongly after looking distinctly green in the early stages. He had clearly learnt plenty from that experience and ultimately had no problem handling this very different track.
Always well positioned against the rail, he gradually wound things up from the front and gamely held off the challenge of Rippling River close home, the front two pulling some way clear of the remainder. Connections reported afterwards that he wouldn't have been particularly well suited by the downhill nature of this track, and that another furlong wouldn't go amiss. The Lily Agnes at Chester is a possibility.
There was a 3l gap back to She Wont Wait, who showed good early speed but weakened tamely inside the final furlong.
Mrs Crossy was never a factor, and swished her tail every time her jockey resorted to the whip. She looks one to be wary of.
River Prince didn't build on his debut effort at Nottingham, but looked all at sea on this track and may be seen to better effect back on a more conventional course.
