PRIMED UP would have been an unlucky loser as he was badly hampered inside the last two furlongs when making his winning run from the back, where he had taken a strong grip off a muddling pace. That he recovered to sweep between the placed horses to win well says as much about the lack of winning enthusiasm about that pair as his own prowess, although this was his first dip into the bottom grade. He has been dropping down the handicap but was still in here with a chance on official figures.
Stablemate Prince Valentine remains a maiden at the age of five. He looked the likely winner when striking down the middle of the track, almost on his own, but he passed up the chance although he willremain competitive at this level and in banded company.
Hillhall was reported unsuited to the track; Mad Professor was reported to have hung.
