Always tracking the early pace, he was angled out 3f out and ridden to join the leaders. He took time to pick up, but gradually started to get on top inside the final furlong before asserting close home. He'll now face the wrath of the assessor, but his trainer is no stranger to turning out an in-form sprinter under a penalty, as he proved with Graze On, and it would be no surprise to see him out again in the next few days.
Red Sovereign was in the front rank throughout, and translated her recent low-grade all-weather form back to turf in this stronger contest. She can continue to pay her way.
Redwood Star was ridden in rear some way out, but made good late headway, while Cosmic Destiny improved for her recent comeback run, but, having travelled strongly on the inside before taking a slight lead entering the final furlong, she weakened close home.
