A son of Derby winner Sinndar, and a half-brother to high-class middle-distance performer Ela Athena, he was always likely to appreciate the step up from a mile, where he'd shown ability in three starts. He still had some 5l to find on the fronttwo entering the final furlong, but kept responding to his rider's urgings and got up close home. Clearly well-handicapped off a mark of just 58, he should be able to build on this, especially given another furlong or two, and he could be the type to make significant progress through the handicap ranks this term.
Iberian Light had been all the rage in the morning, and halved in price with nearly all firms. He was another to be stepping up in trip and, with Neil Callan taking over from an apprentice, connections obviously meant business. He improved on the wide outside before coming under pressure over 3f out. Ridden to lead over 1f out, he looked to be holding nearest pursuer Penang Cinta in the final furlong, but succumbed close home to the fast-finishing winner.
Bahhmirage was more exposed than most ofthese and had already been found wanting over this trip, but she plugged on - albeit without ever threatening the principals - to pull nicely clear of the remainder.
Flashing Floozie was beginning to make some headway over 2f out when interfered with by the eventual winner. She had to be snatched up, losing valuable momentum.
