VIVA VOLTA, who has done well since last season, turned in a game effort for although he had the advantage of racing up with the slow gallop and went on in the straight, he was headed but then battled back to win all out.
Although he disappointed on his last three starts last season, his trainer said that he coughed for most of that time and wasn't really right. Having started this season on a decent mark, and also done well, he should improve again.
Tour d'Amour raced keenly so wasn't disgraced, going down narrowly in a driving finish, and Lisfannon shaped quite well, staying on from midfield and, considering the way the race was run, she is better than the bare form.
Another to take from the race is Leamington Lad, who did best of the hold-up horses, running on strongly from well off the pace to be nearest at the finish.
