There went a decent enough gallop in the ground and it suited BRANDY WINE ideally. He did not look all that happy turning into the straight but he stays for ever and he galloped clear to win convincingly. His trainer felt that cheekpieces did not have the desired effect last time last Bangor, but he also felt that was a better race than yesterday's and as a result he is wondering how effective blinkers for the first time were here.

Theatre Knight, a winner on his chasing debut got tired on the turn and left behind. That win had been on good to soft, and maybe this ground was too sticky for him.
