TOLDO raced handily, and although he lost a few places before they straightened up, he came back again to lead over a furlong out and run on well. He is not bred for this sort of distance, but he clearly stays pretty well and he now has the Northumberland Plate as his target.
Elusive Dream reared as the stalls opened but got a handy pitch which he maintained throughout. This was a step up on his Chester Cup effort, and the Northumberland Plate looks the obvious target for him too.
That race is definitely back on the agenda again for Odiham, who was a close fifth in it last year off 92 and ran really well here off the same mark on his return from a brief flirtation with hurdles in the winter. He was obligedto race wide for much of the way, which can't have helped, and connections have the option of putting headgear back on.
Sirce won on the Polytrack at Kempton when first tried at the trip, and she ran as well as she was entitled to under these verydifferent conditions off a 7lb higher mark, held up as ever.
Chester Cup winner Admiral, only 3lb higher, didn't lead this time and was inclined to race a bit keen. He ran all right in the circumstances, and so did Colloquial, who hadn't run for seven months and, like Odiham, was caught out rather wide for much of the way.
Palomar, drawn 1, was slowly away and immediately tacked across to the inside rail, where he stayed for much of the race at the back of the field. Whenhe made his effort he came widest of all up the straight, and he too is a bit better than the bare form.
Baddam hasn't recovered his form yet for new connections, but he showed more here.(GD)
